Peers for the Planet supporters in the House of Lords are committed to using their unique platform to share knowledge and galvanise action by legislators internationally. As part of our programme of international outreach, P4P’s Co-Chair, Baroness Helene Hayman, participated in a knowledge-sharing event with European legislators and policy-makers on how Parliaments are taking taken an increasingly proactive role in overseeing government climate action and profiling innovative approaches adopted within and beyond the European Union for oversight and scrutiny of government action.

The session was attended by over 350 participants from 64 countries, with many tuning in from South America and Africa. Baroness Hayman was joined by Lisa Badum, Speaker for Climate Politics of the Greens in the German Bundestag and a member of the Committee on Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and Rafael Jimenez Aybar, Environmental Democracy Adviser, Westminster Foundation for Democracy.

"The UK’s contribution in responding to the climate crisis will be measured not just in the quantity of emissions we reduce, but in the quality of the vision, innovation and leadership we provide."
