Peers debate the FCDO's Integrated Review

Updated: Nov 16, 2023

On 28 April Lord Alton of Liverpool led a debate on the impact the planned reduction of UK overseas aid from 0.7%-0.5% would have on the objectives outlined in the FCDO’s recent Integrated Review of National Security and International Policy. A number of P4P supporters contributed, highlighting the impact that the Government’s decision to cut overseas aid would have on the UK’s global climate leadership and reputation, as well as on specific projects, research and scientific partnerships that are seeking to address major challenges such as poverty, health and security internationally. Peers argued that the cut would undermine the objectives of the review, which includes tackling climate change and its impact on less developed countries.
