Peers and MPs write to the new PM to urge him to enhance the environment at home and abroad

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

P4P Peers and MPs from across the parties have written to the new Prime Minister to welcome his commitment to reinstate the moratorium on fracking and called on the PM to prioritise three key issues in his first 100 days:

1) Unblock the expansion of onshore wind and other renewable power, our cheapest source of domestic energy.

2) Join other world leaders, such as President Biden, at COP 27 and COP15 to demonstrate global leadership on climate and nature.

3) Produce an Energy Efficiency Action Plan to cut energy waste and cut down on bills.

The letter, coordinated by the APPG for the Environment, follows the publication of the

cross-party groups Ten Point Plan for Climate and Nature which sets out a series of policy priorities for the government over the next 12 months.

Following the letter, on the 02 November, the Prime Minister confirmed that he will attend COP27 to build on Glasgow's legacy of building a secure and sustainable future.
