Peers for the Planet supporters met for a second time today with Pensions Minister, Baroness Stedman Scott, to discuss further improvements to the Pensions Schemes Bill.
Our objective is to ensure that the Bill provides a clear trajectory for the sector on the roadmap to net zero emissions by ensuring that regulations place requirements on trustees or managers to take into account international climate change treaties of which the UK is a signatory, including the Paris Agreement on climate change, and in addition to the existing, general provision in the Bill to secure effective governance of a scheme with respect to the effects of climate change.
We are encouraged by the on-going, constructive dialogue with Government in preparation for Report stage of the Bill.
