Peers push for changes to secure a sustainable future for English football
As the Football Governance Bill began its report stage in the Lords last week, Peers put forward a final case for making changes to help set English football on course for a sustainable future. P4P Peers supported an amendment - first tabled at committee stage - which aimed to link the Bill to the UK’s Climate Change Act 2008, so that a focus on the long-term environmental sustainability of our most popular national game will form part of the emerging regulatory landsc

Peers briefed on the CCC’s Seventh Carbon Budget advice
On the 05 March, Peers for the Planet hosted the Climate Change Committee in parliament for a briefing on its Seventh Carbon Budget advice to the government. The advice sets out the recommended level for the carbon budget period 2038-42 to be 535 MtCO2e, including emissions from international aviation and shipping. If this is achieved, emissions during this period will be a quarter of the level they are today, and 87% lower than levels in 1990. The session explored the Balan

Peers ensure GB Energy supports sustainable development and community energy
Great British Energy (GBE), a new publicly owned energy company being set up by the Government, will be endowed with £8.3 billion over the course of this Parliament to drive forward investment in clean, home-grown energy production. Legislation to set up the new body has been scrutinised in the Lords, and while the Government’s aim is for the new body to support reaching our clean power targets, there was no mention of contributing to reaching net zero in the Bill. The predicament faced by clubs, including the smallest and

Peers briefed on the impacts of nitrogen pollution
Nitrogen is one of the most abundant elements on the planet and is a key building block of life.
